1.  Setting Goals For the Future – 2 hours

Outcome:  staff learns how to make future plans for success, utilizing the SMART goal setting method that incorporates long term, and short-term goals, and improving on your current goals.

2.  Managing Your Time Effectively – 2 hours

Outcome:  class will help staff utilize the ABC system to better manage and prioritize their time, to work within time constraints to complete assignments.

3.  How To Work With Parents of Color (African American) – 2 hours

Outcome:  Yes2Kollege works extensively with African American parents and other people of color to help them and their children prepare for a college education, and teach educators ways to meet the educational needs of those at-risk groups. 

4.  Helping Adults ‘Grow’ Their Career – 2 hours

Outcome:  Career exploration is very fundamental to the Yes2Kolege program as statistics report that each adult will change careers at least 7 times in his/her lifetime.  Making wise career choices utilizing talents, experiences, networking opportunities and mentors is monumental to a successful future career. 

5.  Teaching Parents How to Talk to Kids About Their Bodies – 2 hours

Outcome:  Parents need to be honest with kids and let them know as much information about their bodies as soon as they're ready for it.  It’s the parent’s job to keep them safe.  When do you start? How do you start? What do you say?

6.  Building Strong Families- 2 hours

Outcome:  Research shows that families play a major role in how well children do in school, how well they perform on the job as adults and how well they contribute to society.  Families are our first teachers and have the first and foremost influence on our development. 

7. Raising Future Leaders – 2 hours

Outcome:  raising children who are self confident, and are leaders instead of followers can be accomplished if children are taught how to clearly communicate there intentions to others.  Parents are essential in the process of teaching self-esteem by helping develop a positive environment, giving praise when called for, setting limits, and helping them make positive decisions.

8.  Going Back to College – 2 hours

Outcome: Adult learners are the new ‘typical student’.  Many adult students choose nontraditional paths to postsecondary education because they work, are responsible for dependents, and can sometimes obtain tuition assistance from an employer if they enroll in a part-time program. 

9.  Family Literacy – Providing Equal Opportunities - 2 hours

Outcome:  Parents must play a key role in the education of their children. The benefits are clear. When Mom and Dad come to school and become integrally involved in their child’s education, it becomes a win-win situation for school and home.  Parents in family literacy programs learn quickly how to navigate complicated school systems and become true advocates for their children.

10.  Parent Involvement – 2 hours

Outcome:  The earlier in a child’s educational process parent involvement begins, the more powerful the effects. Decades of research show that when parents are involved students have:  Higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates, better school attendance, increased motivation, better self-esteem, lower rates of suspension, decreased use of drugs andalcohol, and fewer instances of violent behavior. .
